The Term UK STANDARD relates to the generally accepted line classes as shown on most UK boat rods.
Such rods may well state IGFA ##lbs (International Game Fishing Association) however as a general rule they are considerably lighter than genuine, bluewater IGFA line class rods.
The table below gives a rough comparison between UK rods and IGFA rods. It is intended only as a guide as IGFA have no regulations relating to the power of a rod and every manufacturer can decide for themselves what line class rating they come under.

Some exciting things are happening at Dorset Fishing Rods at the present time. I am working with and testing some new blanks specifically for the UK bass spinning and plugging market. These blanks, if successful after testing will be available for this ever growing UK saltwater "game" fishing market.
